UV Studio FAQ
Everything you need to know about Printasy UV Studio tools, credit consumption, and RIP software compatibility.
How do UV Studio credits work and when are they deducted?
Preparing artwork, configuring grommet spacing, calculating silicone frame stretch, and 3D previewing in your browser is 100% free and unlimited. Credits are only deducted when you perform a final production export (e.g. downloading the high-res layered TIFF, multi-layer PDF, or plotter cut file). Credit consumption varies depending on tool parameters and export complexity.
Can I use UV Studio credits for DTF Studio or ScreenSeparations?
No. Subscriptions and credits are dedicated to Printasy UV Studio tools. To use Printasy DTF Studio or ScreenSeparations, a separate subscription is required.
Which UV flatbed and roll printers are supported?
Printasy UV Studio exports universal standard production files compatible with Roland DG (VersaWorks), Mimaki (RasterLink), swissQprint, Canon Arizona/Colorado (Onyx/Caldera), and Mutoh.
What happens if I need extra credits in a busy month?
You can purchase additional credit bundles in packs of 100 credits directly from your studio dashboard at discounted rates (€10, €5, €3.50, or €2.50 per 100 pack depending on your tier).
Are my client files uploaded to an external server?
No. Pixel manipulation, SmartNudge grommet collision math, and 3D lighting previews run client-side in your browser using WebAssembly and WebGL. Your client's high-resolution files stay private on your machine.
How does SmartNudge™ prevent grommet collision with logos?
SmartNudge™ analyzes image luminance and contrast gradients in the exact circumference where eyelets are slated to be placed. If vector paths or high-contrast graphics are detected, the algorithm calculates the shortest offset trajectory along the banner perimeter to place the grommet safely away from graphics while preserving structural tension.
Does Printasy UV Studio integrate with Caldera and Onyx RIP?
Yes. Exported files are fully standard ISO compliant PDF/X-4 or multi-channel TIFFs containing named spot channels (e.g. Spot 1 White, Spot 2 Gloss Varnish, CutContour). RIPs automatically map these channels directly into output queues without manual operator assignment.
Can I export cut contours for digital flatbed cutters?
Yes. Banner Studio and Canvas Studio generate 100% compliant vector cut paths named "CutContour" or "ThruCut" matching standard specifications for Summa F-Series, Zünd G3/S3, Kongsberg, and Colex digital cutting tables.
Can I switch between monthly and annual plans?
Yes. You can switch between monthly and annual plans at any time from your studio account settings. Annual subscriptions include 2 months free.
